The Story Behind OrthoRevision

Hi, I’m Ben — creator of OrthoRevision, CSTRevision, and author of the two ST3 Trauma & Orthopaedic Interview Preparation books. Teaching has always been a real passion of mine. During medical school I started writing notes for myself, which quickly became a go-to resource for friends and younger years. I realised I had a structured way of learning and revising that people found genuinely useful — and that’s ultimately what sparked the idea behind these books and online platforms.
Exams and interviews are stressful enough without poor-quality or overpriced resources. I’ve always tried to build the type of revision materials I wish I had at the time — clear, structured, affordable, and designed to make recall and retention as straightforward as possible.

My Path So Far
I graduated from Leeds University with Dual Honours in Medicine and in Anatomy in Relation to Medicine BSc (yes — the anatomy enthusiasm on the website makes sense!). During university I was fortunate to win several prizes, including the Charles Turner-Thackrah Prize, Jamieson Medal & Prize, and the Edward Ward Memorial Prize.
Afterwards I completed my Foundation Training at Imperial College Hospitals in London, followed by a JCF post at St Mary’s and Charing Cross. I ranked in the top 1% nationally in CST, which took me back home to Manchester. My ST3 preparation took place partly during COVID — giving me time to create comprehensive notes that later became the backbone of OrthoRevision — and again I ranked in the top 1%
This track record shows the revision system works, but interview technique is equally essential — something we focus heavily on during the courses.
I later completed a Masters in Trauma & Orthopaedics at the University of Edinburgh, achieving a Distinction and winning the BOTA & ESO Scholarship Awards. I’ve authored 15+ publications, presented internationally, and helped lead two major national projects: the National PhD Collaborative Study and the "Stay Safe at Home" Campaign, both endorsed by multiple national societies.
Currently, I serve as Vice Chair of the NWORC Research Committee and am the BOTA representative for the North-West. I’m also an ST7 in Manchester specialising in Hand & Wrist Surgery, and I’m currently revising for the FRCS (with plenty of sympathy for anyone who ever has to!).
Why I Built OrthoRevision
My aim with all these education projects has always been simple:
To provide high-quality, affordable, genuinely useful resources that support trainees through some of the most stressful milestones of their careers.
I stay actively involved — replying to emails and messages, sending regular updates, and continuously refining the content based on user feedback. We keep standards high, the teaching evidence-based, and the pricing fair. Seeing OrthoRevision grow to nearly half a million page views in just over two years has been incredible — and it’s all thanks to the engagement and support from this amazing community.
I’m genuinely grateful for how far this project has come, and I hope the content continues to help you through ST3 and beyond. As always, feel free to reach out — I’m here to help wherever I can.
Best wishes,
Ben
