Hi, I’m Matt. I’m an ST3 Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the North West, and I am incredibly proud to be joining OrthoRevision as a director.
My academic and surgical training journey has been defined by a consistent focus on excellence, structure, and high-performance learning. From medical school through to postgraduate examinations and national selection, I have always believed that the most effective revision resources are those that simplify complex concepts, prioritise high-yield information, and maximise knowledge retention. Like Ben, I have also spent years creating and refining my own revision materials, often recognising how difficult it can be to find the right information presented clearly, concisely, and in a way that genuinely supports performance.
That is exactly why OrthoRevision stood out to me. I used the platform during my own interview preparation, scored over 90% at interview, and saw first-hand the value of a resource that is clear, targeted, and built by someone who truly understands the demands of the process. Joining the business was therefore a very natural next step, and I am proud to now help shape and grow a platform I genuinely believe in.

My Path So Far
Born and raised in a small mill town just outside Burnley, I graduated from the University of York in 2020 with Honours, having achieved distinction and ranked in the top centile throughout medical school. I went on to complete both Foundation Training and Core Surgical Training in the North West, before being awarded the Sir Charles Barry Prize and Gold Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons of England as the highest-scoring candidate in the UK in my MRCS sitting. More recently, I scored over 90% in the ST3 interview process and now continue my training in the North West as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery Registrar.
Alongside clinical training, I have remained closely involved in academic orthopaedics, collaborative research, and national teaching. My academic work includes collaborative authorship on multiple high-impact publications, including work published in The Lancet and the British Journal of Surgery. I have co-authored projects recognised at national level, including work awarded “Best of the Best” and presented at the British Orthopaedic Association Congress, as well as projects awarded the John Charnley Prize and the Peter Mallimson Award and Bursary. I have also designed, led, and published first-author research of my own.
I am currently a committee member of the North West Orthopaedic Research Collaborative and continue to contribute to regional and national research activity alongside my clinical training. My strongest academic interests lie in improving the quality of orthopaedic education, advancing collaborative research, and widening access to Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
Why OrthoRevision Matters to Me
The reason I joined OrthoRevision is simple: I know first-hand how effective it can be. During my own preparation, I found the platform to be exceptionally valuable because it achieved something that very few resources manage well — it combined clarity, depth, structure, and practicality in exactly the right balance. It was obvious that it had been built by someone who not only understood the content, but also understood how trainees learn, revise, and perform under pressure.
Joining as a director reflects my confidence in the platform, the quality of its teaching, and its long-term potential. Working alongside Ben, I want to help ensure that OrthoRevision continues to set the standard for high-quality, high-value orthopaedic revision and interview preparation.
Our vision is straightforward: to provide resources that are premium quality, evidence-based, and genuinely useful, while remaining accessible and competitively priced. Surgical training is demanding enough without trainees having to navigate poor-quality, disorganised, or overpriced resources.
Looking Forward
I am very excited to be part of the future of OrthoRevision and to help continue building a platform that trainees can trust. We have some exceptional projects ahead, and whether someone is preparing for CST interview, MRCS, ST3 interview, or the next major step in their surgical career, our aim is to provide resources that make that journey clearer, more efficient, and more achievable.
Please feel free to reach out if you need anything. I will always do whatever I can to help maximise your chances of success.
Best wishes,
Matt
